Vivint Solar, a leading residential solar installation provider, has been rapidly growing their business throughout New Jersey and the surrounding suburbs. Looking to expand their operations and optimize their warehouse space, they turned to C&SS, an experienced material handling and design-build company.
Vivint Solar, Inc. is an American solar energy company headquartered in Lehi, Utah. It is a residential solar provider that designs, installs, and maintains photovoltaic systems. Operating in 23 U.S. states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia), it has installed over 188,000 solar panel systems totaling over 1290 MegaWatts of rooftop solar as of March 2020. It uses fleet vehicles carrying the traditional Vivint orange coloration. The company is considered to be a green home technology company and is the fastest growing solar energy company in the U.S. which uses the power purchase agreement (PPA).
The new brick-and-mortar facility is primarily used for storage of solar product inventory that will be installed on standard residential systems. While the bulk of the product are solar panels, another primary component is the solar panel mounting and support rails including brackets, racks, and other hardware connection kits. Popular systems include EcoFasten Solar Rock-It, Magerack MageMount Rail-less, Quick Mount PV L-Mount and SnapNrack. Electrical panels, inverters, wire cabling, breakers, conduit, EMT and other electrical elements must also be inventoried. General roofing construction materials may also be needed. Inventory management and control are essential for keeping up with the high demand of daily installation projects. In addition to providing high quality energy systems, maintaining a higher level of customer service and satisfaction is a top priority.
Several solutions were implemented to support the growing business requirements. Interake Mecalux pallet racks were installed to maximize the Megawatts (MW) storage capacity. More Megawatts means more homes can be powered. Cantilever racks were utilized for storage of the bulky rails, conduit, LMT and other lengthy items; long items would normally be difficult to store on standard pallet rack. A WireCrafters tool crib was installed to secure small, expensive inventory and provide tighter inventory controls. C&SS provide a complete turnkey solution that included design, consultation, materials, freight, project management and installation.
"Awesome! Everything turned out great, Thank you."
